Latte Recipe – How to Make a Latte with an Espresso Machine:
Discover How to Make a Latte with an Espresso Machine just like the restaurant. Best way to make Latte at home. The only need is an Espresso Machine that makes lattes easily - your favorite Latte coffee.
- 18-21 grams Espresso coffee beans (if you have coffee grinder to grind coffee)
- 18-21 grams Ground coffee (if you don't have coffee grinder)
- 6 ounces or 177.441 ml Whole milk / Nonfat milk
Grind the espresso coffee beans if you have a coffee grinder. But if you don't have then you can use store buy finely ground coffee.
Use 18-21 grams finely ground coffee for each shot. Take the ground coffee in a clean portafilter. Compress the ground espresso with an espresso tamper. Grasp the tamp handle with your fingers directly above the portafilter and slightly push down using an even twisting motion.
Now its time to make the espresso shots. Lock portafilter into the group head on the espresso machine and put a Latte cup under the portafilter. Press the brewing button to start making espresso shots. This brewed should need 30 seconds, but this will depend on both your grind and your machine.
Pour your 6 ounces of milk into a metal pitcher. Insert the steam wand of expresso machine diagonally into the milk, keep it just below the surface. Start steaming by turning the appropriate knob on your espresso machine.
Using a thermometer, steam milk until the temperature reaches between 150ºF and 155ºF. This will create necessary froth for a good latte by allowing air to get mixing along with the steam.
It's time to pour the steamed milk over the coffee shot. When pouring, use a spoon to control the flow of the froth. Keep in mind that no foam enters the drink until you are about 1/4 in. from the top, where you can remove your spoon.
The result should be a nice creamy brown drink base with a thin milk frothy top. Now time to make latte art if you want to make a nice presentation. But this is optional.
- Taking too long to brew the espresso may result in teste bitterness. also taking enough time will result in losing the flavors.
- Nonfat milk is the easiest to make foam but this doesn't taste as much as milk with more fat.
- Whole milk is the hardest milk to foam but this makes a more flavorful latte due to its higher fat content.
